Individuality
Be an individual in a small town is hard, and we as individuals are targets are targets of the poice, adults, and most of the all the media. I mean, now all commercialshave some up-beat techno song or somebody playing the guitar or even a skateboarder or two. It's not that it sickens me, hell they can put what ever they want on their commercial. I'm just happy that my generationand people like me are getting noticed but it's just the companies that have these commercials. Levis jeans, Wrangler (whose commercials once were about people in rodeos), and GAP. For god's sake GAP!!??!! The Gap's target audience needs not be punks and skaters. Their latest commercial has kids skating in a halfpipe with the song "Busy Child" by The Crystal Method. You see it's newsletters like this that target no audience; it's completely independent. also skating in this town is hard. "There is nowhere to go, that's the main problem here." said a few skaters that I taked to. "You can't skae at the movies anymore without being arrested. the only good place to skate now is downtown and you can still get arrested down there. I mean honeslty, should we be arrested for skating. I mean, we're not hurtting anybody. We just need a place to go, a place to hangout. They tell us to go somewhere else but there is nowhere to go." Now I'm not asking you for your money, just your time. Take a stand in the on-going battle for people like me and my peers to have a place to go. I swear the teen crime rate would go down, because we would be somewhere not on the streets doing drugs or stealing things. You see do these things because we're bored and have nothing to do. Now, I know that getting a teen center wil not magically solve all the cities problems, but it will help one major factor, the teens. Please talk with you council persons help the teens of this small town. You see teen centers have worked in other small town, why will it not work in ours? Be an individual, TAKE A STAND.
