Oven Dry Dough Recipes

"Learning for young children must be hands on"

Baking Dough
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
water
Mix the dry ingredients; then add enough water to create a workable dough.
Invite children to sculpt figures or roll and cut the dough with cookie cutters.
Bake the dough at 300 degrees for 1 to 1 ½ hours depending on the thickness of each figure.
Finished products can be painted.
Modeling Dough
1 cup flour
½ cup salt
½ cup water
Mix the flour and the salt together first.
Add water and mix until it starts to pull away from the bowl.
Turn the dough out onto a board and knead until smooth and elastic.
This dough dries very quickly while working with it pinch off only what you need and store the rest in a bag until you need more. To help pieces stick together make a past of flour and water and use it like glue. When finished, fire in the oven at 175 degrees.
You'll have to check each piece periodically as the thicker the piece the longer the dry time.
You may paint the piece and you should seal it with varnish
Play dough (hardening variety)
1 cup flour
1/3 cup salt
6-8 T. water
food coloring if desired
Add the water gradually, using only enough to produce a workable consistency. To set, bake at 300 degrees until hard.
