Helpful Hints for the Lazy Housekeeper

or for those of us who would rather be surfing the net than cleaning the toilet

"A home should be clean enough to be healthy, but messy enough to be happy"

After drying off after a shower, use the damp towel to wipe out sink. It only takes a few seconds and will prevent buildup that requires major cleaning.
Clean kitchen while cooking a meal. You have to be there anyway, so use the time well
Straighten den, sweep, or do other mindless chores while watching television. Believe me, there is nothing on tv that requires your undivided attention.
When doing laundry, leave the towels and fold up clothes for last. Then, if you get tired or busy on the computer, you can leave them in the dryer until needed or the next laundry day.
If you have lots of vinyl or wood flooring, invest in an industrial style dust mop. Its much quicker and easier on your back than a broom. You may still need to sweep out the corners every week.
After cleaning your shower next time, spray with one of the new "clean shower" products. They really do help keep down mildew and soap scum.
Change your bed linens on laundry day. Take them off in the morning, run through the laundry, and put back on in the afternoon. No need to fold and store, and no need for extra sets of sheets.
Park a spoon rest next to the stove. Wiping away hardened sauces from the stovetop and crevices will be a thing of the past. Buy extra, so one is always clean.
Avoid sticky pantry shelves by placing syrup containers, etc., on plastic food lids.
Prevent mineral buildup from staining the inside of your dishwasher. Once each month, pour 1 cup of white vinegar into the detergent holder after the dishwasher fills with water for the first cycle. This will also dissolve existing deposits.

Thank God for dirty dishes, they have a story to tell. While others may be hungry, we are eating very well. With home, health, and happiness, I shouldn't want to fuss. By this great stack of evidence, God's been very good to us!
