Alakazam is in most ways degenerative of
Mewtwo, and lacks the TM ability to use the same strategies. However, his enormous
Special Attack and good Speed rankings give him some use.
Movesets include:
Standard Alakazam #1:
Thunder Wave
Seismic Toss
Psychic
Rest
@Mint Berry
This Alakazam is a GS adaptation of the RBY standard. The GS
standard merely uses Restberry instead of Recover, due to the fall in Alakazam's Special
Defense. This Alakazam is equipped to attack any sort of opponent. The
strategy is simply to either use Thunder Wave then attack repeatedly with Psychic or
Seismic Toss, Restberrying once, or merely attacking with Psychic or Seismic Toss and
Restberrying once without using Thunder Wave.
Weaknesses: Low defensive stats yield little longevity.
Standard Alakazam 2:
Barrier
Psychic
Seismic Toss
Recover
@Leftovers
Obviously for use against pokémon sporting physical attacks, this
Alakazam uses Barrier to tank itself up in Defense. It then merely Psychics and
Seismic Tosses, Recovering when necessary. Restberry may be substituted for Recover
and Leftovers.
Weaknesses: With Recover and Leftovers, no way to heal status ailments.
With Restberry, only moderate longevity. Low Special Defense either way.
Restberry #1:
Thunder Wave
Barrier
Psychic
Rest
@Mint Berry
This Alakazam works best when Amnesia is Baton Passed to it.
However, it can also attempt to stand its own ground. This Alakazam utilizes the
Rest Berry strategy to regain health in one turn, but if the Amnesias are Baton Passed to
it and it uses several Barriers, it will gain the ability to Rest effectively even after
the Mint Berry has been used.
Recommended BPer: Girafarig
Weaknesses: No attacks that affect dark pokémon. Hazers.
Limited Psychic PP.
Restberry #2:
Barrier
Thunder Wave
Seismic Toss
Rest
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
Very similar to Restberry #1. However, this Alakazam must
have two or three Amnesias Baton Passed to it to work effectively. It has the
advantage that it can attack Dark type and other Psychic type pokémon effectively.
Because this is used only as a Tanker, Leftovers can be used as a effective replacement
for Mint Berry, if desired.
Recommended BPer: Girafarig
Weaknesses: Critical hits will eat right through all of the Amnesias and
Barriers. If Hazed, is as good as dead.
Move-block Kazam :
Thunder Wave
Disable
Psychic
Rest
@Mint Berry
Unless this Alakazam is slower than the opponent, the first move used
should generally be Thunder Wave. If the opponent's attack is the attack that you
know is the best attack for the opponent to use (for the opponent's welfare), use Disable
next. This extends Alakazam's longevity by forcing the opponent to use a less potent
attack. Rest should only be used once.
Weaknesses: No attacks that damage Darks. Low defensive stats.
Disable is inaccurate.
Psychic Barrage Alakazam :
Light Screen
Barrier
Psychic
Recover
@Leftovers
Depending on the opponent, first use Light Screen or Barrier. If
Barrier, it may be used again. Then continually use Psychic and Recover as
needed. Continue Alternating between Recover and Psychic until Alakazam faints.
As an alternative, Light Screen may be reused just before Alakazam faints to
provide cover for the next pokémon. Reflect may be substituted for Barrier for this
same effect. In order to cure status ailments, Restberry may be substituted for
Recover and Leftovers.
Weaknesses: Cannot damage Dark pokémon. With Restberry, only
moderate longevity.
Kamikazam :
Thunder Wave
Barrier
Light Screen
Psychic
@Focus Band/Leftovers
This Alakazam has the least longevity of the five. The strategy is
to first use Thunder Wave, then Barrier or Light Screen, and pound with Psychic until
Alakazam faints (which won't be a very long period of time). An advantage this
Alakazam has over Psychic Barrage Alakazam is the ability to Paralyze. This Alakazam
is also the least prone to suffer from critical hits, due only to its lack of longevity.
Reflect may be substituted for Barrier in order to pass the Reflect to the next
pokémon.
Weaknesses: Cannot damage Darks. (Not to be redundant) little
longevity.
Pseudo-Passing Alakazam :
Light Screen
Reflect
Thunder Wave
Rest
@Mint Berry
This Alakazam's only purpose is to help set up the next pokémon.
Paralyze the opponent with Thunder Wave, use Light Screen and Reflect, then switch to the
pokémon onto which you wish the Light Screen and Reflect to be carried. Restberry
if needed to allow Alakazam to survive. If Alakazam is KOed, any Reflect, Light
Screen, or Paralyzation will still be in effect. This Alakazam may be reused if not
KOed.
Weaknesses: No way to deal damage.
Anti-Dark Alakazam :
Thunder Punch
Psychic
Light Screen
Recover
@Leftovers
This Alakazam is to counter Crunch users. Light Screen will protect
it enough that it's Thunder Punch can KO a Houndoom. Thunder Punch is also useful in
that it is super-effective against Slowbro, Slowking, and Starmie. Psychic is used
for other non-Darks.
Weaknesses: Little longevity. Tyranitars can defeat this
Alakazam with physical attacks.
Anti-Steel Alakazam :
Fire Punch
Psychic
Barrier
Recover
@Leftovers
This Alakazam is used to counter Steel's resistance to Psychic.
Barrier greatly increases Alakazam's resilience against the said Steel-types' physical
attacks. Psychic is used for non-Steel types.
Weaknesses: Houndoom and Tyranitar are immune to Psychic and
resistant to Fire Punch.
Catch-All Alakazam :
Psychic
Ice Punch
Thunder Punch
Rest
@Mint Berry
This Alakazam is designed to handle an opponent of any elemental type,
using its massive Special Attack. Had it greater longevity, it could be considered a
sweeper.
Weaknesses: Little longevity.
