Apple Pie
Crust Ingredients:
2 1/2 C white flour
6 T. cornstarch
1/2 C sugar
1 C butter, cut into pieces
Directions: Stir together flour, cornstarch,
and the sugar. Rub in butter with your
fingers until dough is crumbly and
has no large particles. Divide dough in half.
Press half into an 8"
or 9" round pie pan, shaping it to fill the sides and bottom of pan.
Filling Ingredients:
2 to 3 large apples
1/2 C white sugar
1 t. vanilla
1/4 C brown sugar
1/2 t. nutmeg
3 T cinnamon
Core, peel, and thinly slice apples. In a
bowl, mix together
apple slices, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Let sit for about 10 minutes,
to allow juices to settle. Pour into prepared
pie crust.
Once you have the filling in the crust, crumble
the other half of the dough on top
of the apples, completely covering the
dish. Pack down slightly.
Sprinkle with ground cinnamon and sugar.
Bake
at 350 until the top is golden brown, about 50 minutes.
